About H. C. Schregenberger

My Story

The universe, we are reliably informed, has persisted for some fourteen billion years; mankind has managed to occupy a corner of it for a mere three hundred thousand; and I myself have contrived to endure for approximately sixty. One might be forgiven for concluding that my perspective on eternity is somewhat limited.

Life has bestowed upon me a singular generosity, though her tutelage has been rigorous—at times ruthlessly so—in the intricate art of managing men and institutions. For as long as memory serves, I have found peculiar satisfaction in the exercise of leadership: as a project manager marshalling resources, as a director steering enterprise, as chairman presiding over boards, and as a military commander bearing the weight of command. What I have become, I owe in no small measure to this perpetual commerce with humanity.

The passing decades have afforded me a certain clarity as to how others perceive my character. I am held, it appears, to be absolutely discreet and reliable, incorruptible in principle, and both clear and consistent in judgment. Whether I have earned such estimation or merely cultivated its appearance, I shall leave to others to determine.

The more formidable the obstacles, the more inexorable the pressure of time, the more intricate the entanglement of circumstances—the more completely shall I bring to bear the full measure of my accumulated experience in your interest. What appears to others as hopeless confusion, I have learned to see as merely another problem awaiting its solution.

Should you choose to engage my services, you select a man who has traversed the difficult terrain of his own miscalculations and emerged the wiser for it. I understand thoroughly the disagreeable burden of answering for one’s errors. Yet from this stern schoolmaster—necessity herself—I have acquired over the decades a particular facility: the capacity to guide individuals and enterprises through labyrinths of difficulty toward resolution, and to do so with both expedition and assurance.

Show me the volumes that grace your shelves, the pages upon which your eyes daily rest, and I shall divine the contours of your character—at present, I find myself immersed in:

“The first time, I thought to myself: He’s crazy, what he’s trying to do, it can’t possibly work… that was about ten years ago. Since then, we have come to appreciate H. C. as a man who can achieve the impossible.”
